How We Evaluate Movers
We list a mover only if it holds an active California household mover license, and we rank listed movers using public data anyone can verify. No mover can pay to be listed or to rank higher.
Facts checked November 6, 2026. Independent guide; not a moving company.
What does a mover need to be listed?
- An active license with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, confirmed in the state's public lookup on the date shown.
- For movers offering interstate service: an active USDOT number and operating authority in FMCSA's mover search.
- A business location that serves San Diego County.
Which data points do we show?
- License number and status (BHGS), with the date checked.
- USDOT and MC numbers, for interstate movers (FMCSA).
- Google rating and number of reviews, with the date checked. We show these as recorded; we don't edit, filter or rewrite reviews.
- Years in business, based on the earliest verifiable public record, such as the license issue date.
How are movers ordered?
Movers that meet the listing rules are ordered by a review-weighted rating, which keeps a company with a handful of perfect reviews from outranking one with hundreds of strong ones. Ties go to the mover with more years in business. We recheck listed facts at least every 90 days and remove any mover whose license lapses.
What we never do
We never fabricate or paraphrase reviews, write testimonials, invent ratings, or accept payment for placement. If a mover's information is wrong, the mover can contact us with a link to the public record and we'll correct it.
